The Retrode is actually another example of a custom-built dumper it started out as some guy's project, and was only later turned into a product. There's always the option of building your own based on someone else's design, but that's time consuming, technical, probably not much cheaper than buying one, and frequently needs more development work (the README on that one says it only works for LoROM games right now, and I suspect that it doesn't support SRAM dumping at all, in its current state). I would recommend making a copy of your ROM and rename it if it doesn't match. Note: The game must have the same name as the save state file for ZSNES to load it. We generally use the 0 save state when we distribute, unless there are multiple states for the archive, in which case we start at 1. I know it can dump the ROM, but their page there says that it currently can't dump SRAM (the save data in the cart). Start the game in ZSNES and load the save state. The INL Retro dumper is $52 for all 6 connectors, and $35 for a single one (like SFC/SNES). #SNES EMULATORS THAT LOAD SAVE STATES SOFTWARE#It's basically the same hardware to dump SRAM and the game ROM the difference would be in the software support in the dumper.and it seems like software support is pretty lacking (I link to 2 devices I'm aware of that illustrate that). Im using nesDS right now, and while the fast forward/rewind options are neat, Id really like a save state function. It's clearer to say that you're interested in dumping game saves from cartridges.
